Musanze, Rwanda – Today, the picturesque district of Musanze—home to Rwanda’s iconic Volcanoes National Park—played host to the first edition of the 2026 Business & Climate Talks. This landmark event brought together stakeholders from across sectors to explore how eco-tourism, sustainability certification, and green investment can drive Rwanda’s climate resilience and economic growth.
Hosted by the Ministry of Environment, the German Embassy, and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) , the inaugural edition focused on the intersection of conservation, commerce, and climate action. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Virunga massif, participants engaged in high-level discussions on positioning Rwanda as a premier destination for sustainable tourism while building a green economy that benefits both people and nature.
A Convergence of Vision and Action
The timing of the Talks is significant. With the global tourism industry increasingly prioritizing sustainability, Rwanda is well-positioned to lead by example. The country’s commitment to conservation, community-based tourism, and innovative financing mechanisms was a central theme throughout the day.

A Full Circle Moment
What made this participation especially meaningful was the opportunity to put into practice the skills and knowledge gained through the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) – WALL Youth Leadership Program. Being able to engage in high-level conversations about climate resilience and sustainable development—right in front of the very people who offer the program—was a full-circle moment.
It was also a genuine pleasure to reconnect with inspiring leaders like Kaddu Kiwe Sebunya and Sarah Nyakio, whose mentorship continues to shape the next generation of African conservation and sustainability leaders. The coincidence of meeting them at this event was too special not to share!
