Deadline: 4 September 2026
Applications are now open for the Resilient Futures Open Call 2026, a global funding opportunity for innovators with bold ideas that connect democratic political leadership and climate resilience. The programme supports early-stage, non-partisan projects that can create lasting impact in communities around the world.
The initiative brings together four leading funders: the Better Politics Fund, the European Climate Foundation, Naia Trust, and the Vibe Fund . Together, they aim to identify creative ideas that strengthen democracy while addressing climate challenges.
About the Resilient Futures Open Call 2026
The Resilient Futures Call invites applicants from across the world to submit innovative ideas that improve democratic leadership while building climate resilience.
Unlike many funding programmes, this initiative focuses on ideas in their early stages. Applicants do not need a fully developed project before applying. Instead, the fund seeks promising concepts with the potential to create meaningful change.
The organisers encourage creative solutions that strengthen democratic institutions, improve political leadership, and support communities facing climate-related challenges .
What the Resilient Futures Open Call Supports
The programme seeks ideas that combine democracy and climate action across three funding areas:
- Pathways: Helping climate scientists, advocates, and affected communities work more effectively with political and/or governance decision-makers so that good evidence and local knowledge shape policy.
- Leadership: Supporting programmes that integrate a critical climate lens into democratic leadership development, strengthening ethical communication, policy design, and strategic coalition-building.
- Cross-Sector Leadership: Backing leadership on the issues climate touches most directly—energy, housing, transport, food, security, health, and conservation—and helping reform political systems and institutions.
Two Funding Streams
The Resilient Futures Call has allocated a total of USD 700,000 across two grant streams:
| Funding Stream | Grant Amount | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Ideation Grants | USD 10,000–20,000 | For early-stage, new, or pilot ideas that are just getting started |
| Incubation Grants | Up to USD 50,000 | For initiatives with proven impact ready to scale. By nomination only |
Total Funding Available: USD 700,000
