For organizations across the Caribbean working to strengthen communities, protect the environment, and expand educational opportunities, the Sandals Foundation 2027 Grant Program offers a powerful opportunity to turn vision into impact. With funding available across three tiers, this program invites community-based organizations, NGOs, and social enterprises to apply for grants to support projects beginning in 2027.
What the Sandals Foundation Supports.
Since its founding in 2009, the Sandals Foundation has invested in initiatives that build local capacity and promote sustainable development across the Caribbean. The foundation’s work is anchored in three core pillars: Education, Community, and Environment. Over the past 17 years, the foundation has made a remarkable impact, reaching over 1.5 million people across the Caribbean. Their work includes supporting over 2,290 schools, donating more than 6,000 computers and digital devices, distributing over 290,000 books, impacting over 360,000 students, and engaging 26,000+ youth in community programs. They have also planted over 27,000 trees, protected 19 marine and terrestrial areas, out-planted 33,000+ corals, and safely hatched nearly 194,000 turtles.
Key Focus Areas
The foundation is seeking projects that align with the following strategic areas:
- Education: School infrastructure improvements, teacher training, digital literacy programs, and scholarships
- Environment: Biodiversity protection, marine conservation, environmental education, and coral restoration
- Community Development & Health: Youth engagement, sports, cultural initiatives, and mental & physical health programs
- Economic Empowerment: Skills training for artisans, farmers, and fisherfolk, as well as support for social enterprises
- Disaster Preparedness & Relief: Crisis response and resilience-building initiatives
Who Can Apply?
Projects must take place within Caribbean islands where Sandals & Beaches Resorts operate. This includes Jamaica, The Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Antigua, Curaçao, Turks & Caicos Islands, and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Eligible applicants include NGOs, nonprofit organizations, and community groups. The foundation does not fund for-profit enterprises (unless structured as social enterprises), government entities, or political/religious activities.
Funding Tiers for 2027 Projects
The Sandals Foundation uses a tiered funding structure to match project scope with available resources:

Strategic Grants are limited and highly competitive – only a small number will be awarded this cycle.
Two-Stage Application Process
The Sandals Foundation uses a two-stage process to ensure efficiency and fairness:
Stage 1: Concept Application (Initial Screening)
- Deadline: July 27, 2026
- Applicants must complete and submit a Concept Application Form via the Sandals Foundation website
- Submissions are reviewed based on alignment, feasibility, and potential impact
Stage 2: Full Proposal (By Invitation Only)
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a detailed project proposal
- Submission of a concept application does not guarantee advancement to the full proposal stage
Partial Funding
The foundation may offer partial funding based on project scope, priorities, and available resources. Applicants should clearly indicate the minimum funding required to deliver the project and any confirmed co-funding.
Important Dates
Projects the Foundation Does Not Fund
To ensure resources go to high-impact community initiatives, the foundation does not fund:
- Political, partisan, fraternal, labour, or purely religious activities
- Individual grants (unless scholarships or hardship-based)
- For-profit enterprises (unless structured as social enterprises)
- Government entities/agencies
- Activities outside the eligible Caribbean islands
- Sponsorships, uniforms, and prizes without community-wide benefit
- One-off events without measurable, lasting impact
- Projects lacking community buy-in, regulatory approval, or a sustainability plan
