🌱 Beyond Indoor Environments: Restoring Rwanda’s Land with Earth Focus Network

While the Halton Foundation focuses on creating healthier indoor environments, Earth Focus Network, in partnership with Here For Hope Foundation, is working to restore outdoor environments in Rwanda. We are committed to an ambitious goal: planting 10,000,000 trees by 2030 to restore degraded land and combat climate change.

Why Trees Matter in Rwanda

Rwanda’s Eastern Province, once scarred by drought, erosion, and land degradation, is now experiencing a quiet transformation. The Transforming Eastern Province through Adaptation (TREPA) project has already restored 73% of its target, equivalent to 43,777 hectares of degraded land. Across the country, nearly 68 million trees were planted during the 2025/26 planting season, exceeding the target by 14%.

However, the work is far from complete. Environmentalists warn that many indigenous tree species remain threatened as natural habitats continue to shrink due to urbanization, agriculture, and other human activities.

Indigenous species like Umuvumu store three times more carbon than exotic species, and agroforestry practices contribute to higher agricultural productivity while improving soil conservation. Restoration aligns with Rwanda’s goal of increasing national forest cover (currently 30.4%) and its commitment to the Bonn Challenge.

📢 Join Our Mission

Through the information we offer, you may choose to contribute to our mission today to help us reach 10,000,000 trees by 2030. Every tree planted restores degraded land, sequesters carbon, and supports local communities. Farmers across Eastern Rwanda are proving that restoration succeeds when it aligns with their economic interests—planting trees that provide livestock feed, alternative income streams, and stable soils.

Make a difference today. Support our tree-planting initiatives in Rwanda and be part of the collective movement to restore the earth.
